Meet the Humans
Behind Paws & Talk
Megan has cared for and worked with animals since 2001 and began pet sitting professionally in 2018. She's a military spouse, mom of a college sophomore, and pet mom. In her early life, before traveling as a military spouse, she was an assistant veterinary technician. Megan specializes in cat care, special needs, neonatal, and senior care. If you were wondering about the talk aspect of the business name, it's inspired entirely by her and a love for talking, reading, and even singing to pets to help ease their stress.
You may see two other faces along the way. Megan's husband, Colin who is in the Air Force, has a gift with fearful dogs and assists with the animals and home care. He has done his fair share of storm prep and cleanup over the years. Their daughter, Alanna who is extraordinary with shy cats, is currently attending Clemson and working toward a degree in Biology to work alongside animals as a behavioralist. Alanna is rarer to see these days but her assistance when available is always welcomed by the animals being cared for.

How We Got Started
Paws & Talk is a small pet care business located in Trenton, South Carolina, owned and independently operated by Megan and her family. Following encouragement from the pet guardians Megan previously assisted, she officially launched Paws & Talk in Maryland in 2018. Like many military families, Megan and her family received orders to relocate to South Carolina, where they are now based.
The Mission
The mission of Paws & Talk is to provide custom and personalized care to pets within the safety of their homes to minimize their stress, create safe spaces, and provide their humans with peace of mind when they're away.
Inspirations Along the Way
Paws & Talk was inspired by the family's special needs cat and senior dog, who did not react well to boarding and care outside of the home. Their stress and the encouragement of others prompted the creation of Paws & Talk to provide service to other pet guardians who face similar issues when traveling or working.

A shy senior duo, Hurley and Bayou, are a pair not easily forgotten. Sadly, a prior pet sitter had left their guardians with a lot of anxiety due to mishandling Hurley's diabetes. Megan spent a lot of time with the family and the duo to earn their trust and ease their fears; often sitting quietly, reading softly, and singing songs to earn Hurley and Bayou's trust. These efforts paid off as both came out of their shells and thrived, serving as a reminder that every visit should be shaped to the needs of the pets and their guardians.
A beautiful dog named Ava came into their lives and created an impact so strong that Alanna wanted to go into a field to better understand animal behavior. Ava had medical issues and visible scars from past trauma, and her guardian who fought to help her adopted fur baby overcome every obstacle inspired the mission further. Ava's past trauma created unforeseen behaviors that escalated with her health issues. Ava's life impacted the Paws & Talk family and led to a focus on animal behavior through education and continuing their mission.
